I just moved into a new home and contacted Kirk to come and clean my dryer vent because it was taking a long time to dry my clothes and it is a gas dryer so I was concerned about fire safety. Kirk was super responsive and was able to accommodate my schedule to come out. He told me on the phone what to expect he would do during the service and he lived up to everything he said! He arrived on time, took pictures of what he saw when he was in there cleaning (it was kind of scary to see how much lint and animal hair and other stuff had accumulated in places you'd never guess and were a fire hazard for sure). He did a really thorough job and even taught me something I have never done before: to wash the lint collector periodically (I've always cleaned the lint every time I use the dryer but didn't realize soap and softeners can kind of block the air flow through the screen itself)! All this will keep my dryer operating more energy efficiently and safer for sure. Thanks, Kirk! I would highly recommend his work and it helps that he is also just a really friendly guy

Captain Kirk came out to clean our chimney May 2 2019. He did a great job. Very professional. He used drop cloths to protect our floors and carpets, and left our wood stove looking great. He said we only need cleaning every 4 years, which I appreciated. We highly recommend him.

We called Kirk to come clean our chimney, and when he pulled the pellet stove insert out of the fireplace, he showed us what a crap job the original installer had done. It was dangerous, what this other guy had done, actually. After cleaning our chimney on his first visit, Kirk came back and fixed the a very poor pellet stove installation done by an inadequate "other" chimney sweep company in 2015. He made the original crappy installation excellent. It looks great now and I no longer feel the wind coming in underneath the stove. We will use him again. Thanks Kirk!

Unlike the majority of North Bay chimney services, Kirk is fully certified and experienced in an impressive array of related technical topics. He cares about what he does, and shows great commitment to being as careful as he is thorough. He kept a potential dirty job as clean as a whistle.

I bet there is not a dollar's difference in cost between the various chimney cleaner's around the County, but with Kirk, you get so much more for your time and money.

I do like Captain Kirk's Chimney Service. Been using them for a few years. The only problem I have with them is they do not return my phone calls.  Every year I go through the same thing and have to keep calling them back. On the phone message it says they value your business...so why not return calls promptly? There work is great! They service, once, making an appointment, is fabulous and very trustworthy!

This is the second year we have used Captain Kirk's  service.  Can't say enough good things.  Prompt, pleasant, thorough, personable,  he takes great effort to corral and remove the mess chimney sweeping creates, all while thoroughly explaining potential issues your  chimney might have.  Very fair price for a professional service.  Why use anyone else?   Prior to using Captain Kirk's service, other providers left me thinking that the chimney sweep business was not really a profession, but just a fly by night operation. Will definately use him again.

I called Captain Kirk to install a gas log in my fireplace. He was recommended by the log manufacturer, and his name was familiar because I had seen his Starship,er truck, in my neighborhood. An installation price was quoted, and an appointment made. He arrived at the appointed time, and quickly completed the job. He left no mess, and educated us on the proper use of the gas logs. The bill was as quoted, and he even inspected our fireplace and chimney. I highly recommend him; he's the real deal.

Captain Kirk's crew came to the aid of my chimney. The team was thorough, efficient and polite. They left the living room spotless, then took the time to explain their findings.

Since I'm "chimney ignorant," the crew showed me the video feed to demonstrate the problems. The fee was fair and I received what felt like expert advice for needed repairs.

The next day I called them back to schedule the first piece of the repair.

I just used Captain Kirk's Chimney Sweep for the first time.  Kirk Hart arrived on time, was friendly and professional.  Mr. Hart was extremely competent and discovered several problems which he was able to rectify during the service.  Mr. Hart was knowledgeable and provide me with advice on how to maintain the appearance of our artificial log fire. I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone.  I was truly impressed.

This was an awesome experience.  He arrived in a timely manner, did his job, showed me the part i was asking to have replaced, explained it to me, cost more but seems much more efficient than other one.  He further explained the maintenance of my wood burning stove.  He also pointed out maintenance i need to do on the fireplace.  I am on their list to send me a post card next year to do it all over again. This is the tops in chimney sweeps i've had and will very happily recommend them to anybody.

I first used Captain Kirk's Chimney 15 years ago in my home on Mt Taylor, Bennett Valley. I was so impressed. I had never used a chimney sweep before and I was amazed at how much black dust comes out of a chimney and how their techs managed to leave my home completely clean. No dirt, no dust, clean carpets. It was wonderful. I have used him ever since and have never had a problem what so ever.

This is the busiest time for Chimney cleaning, and it took a few days to make the appointment, but completely understood. Kirk arrived (as scheduled) and was a real pro, and a sense of humour and so neat and tidy performing this task that is anything but neat and tidy!  Captain Kirk's is all about safety and is one of only two Chimney Services in Sonoma County with the camera technology to completely inspect the interior of chimney. It appears we will need some repair work at a later date on some of the mortar joints.  We received a quote for $2500 from Kirk to seal up the cracks, and will definitely look into a second opinion. But for now our chimney is cleaner and we learned quite a bit from Kirk.
He is extremely knowledgable and we will definitely continue to do business with Captain Kirk's Chimney service.

I called Captain Kirk's this morning to inquire if they might come down to Marin for an estimate. It just so happened that Kirk was already in Marin today, and not only would he come and look, he'd come and do the job today. Being self-employed myself, when a small business pays that much attention to my request, I'm already impressed. I was quoted a very very reasonable price, and Kirk would call me when he was on his way.
He came right at the guesstimated time, listened carefully to what I wanted, and then went to work. After a while, he found me and said that he'd removed about 160 lbs (!!!) of ash, and asked me if I wanted him to keep going (at an additional cost) or get to the chimney. I so appreciate being included in the decision-making of home maintenance work - other contractors I've worked with have not been so considerate. The safety issue was addressed and we decided it was good.
Kirk found two cracks in the top of my chimney, showed me pics of them, and explained the consequences of them.
Everything was COMPLETELY cleaned up - there's no trace of his having been there - and the state of my chimney is completely documented by pics, which he keeps on his office computer. My fireplace and chimney are clean and ready for a gas insert.
I recommend Captain Kirk's unequivocally. Service that is out of this world at down to earth prices.

I've used Captain Kirk's chimney service the last couple of years.  This year was very disappointing.  A different person came out than the previous times.  He cleaned the chimney well and when I asked at the end if everything was okay, he said the damper was hanging.  He had some very nice pictures of the inside.  I asked him if that was normal or if it should be closed or what?  He shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know".  I asked how it was supposed to be and he said it seemed like it was off its hinges.  I'm sorry but I think he should have hooked it back up since he was in there.  Now, I'll be reaching up into the chimney to figure it out.   It's unfortunate because I was really happy with the service the past 2 or 3 years.
I just wanted to update.  I had a call from the owner of the business and he made a trip over here to fix the damper.  I am happy, again with their service.  Kirk, the owner, is very serious about the business and did a great job repairing the damper.  I give them 2 Thumbs UP!!
